ON SCENE REPORT: Lewisville 2-Alarm House Fire in Castle Hills

ON SCENE REPORT:  Earlier this afternoon at 4:34 PM, Lewisville FD units were dispatched to a 1-Alarm Structure Fire in the 2000 Block of Hemison Ln. in Castle Hills.  Caller reported a grease fire in the kitchen that had caught the cabinets on fire.  4 minutes later at 4:39 PM, the first units arrived on scene (E166 and M166) with smoke showing out the front door of the residence.  E166 investigated and deployed a hose line to the front door.  E166 crew knocked down the fire in the kitchen and while checking for extension found the fire had spread to the attic.  B160 arrived at 4:43 and from outside reported heavy fire through the roof and requested a 2nd Alarm.  E166 repositioned their hoseline up the stairs and began an attack on the fire that had now involved most of the attic space upstairs.  T167 arrived on scene and performed a search of the residence and roof ventilation.  All residents had already evacuated and searches were negative.  E163 and E165 arrived and assisted upstairs with a 2nd hoseline and pulling ceiling to attack the fire in the attic.  Once two hoselines were in place and operating the fire was knocked down and contained to the attic area above the stairs.  The fire was under control by 4:55PM (16 minutes after the first arriving units).  2nd Alarm units consisted of E161, E164, E162, and M162.  Lewisville Reserves responded with REHAB 160 for firefighter rehabilitation and Carrollton FD T112, E116, and B111 responded mutual aid.  Great job by all responding crews to contain the fire in the attic and keep it from spreading to the rest of the home!  A3
