Bank Robbery Suspect – Arlington PD

Arlington PD is Seeking public’s help in identifying a bank robbery suspect.

On Monday, April 29, 2013 at around 5:30 p.m., a suspect walked into a bank located in the 200 block of N. Mesquite Street and pointed a handgun at bank employees and demanded money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash, left the bank on foot and entered a vehicle parked nearby.
Investigators believe this suspect is responsible for several other recent bank robberies across the Metroplex and is referred to as the “Mesh Mask Bandit.” He is described as approximately 35-40 years of age, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, average/muscular build, with a thick mustache or goatee. In Monday’s robbery, the suspect was wearing dark pants, a dark-colored hooded jacket, a black baseball cap, and a black mesh “wave cap” or “stocking” over his face.
The suspect vehicle is described as an early to mid-2000 model, navy blue Dodge Caravan, displaying a paper license plate. A dye pack included with the cash is believed to have deployed as the suspect got to his vehicle. The vehicle may have red dye stains on the driver’s side of the van. The suspect may also have possible dye and burns on his body.
Photographs of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle are attached. This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach the suspect. Anyone with information on this offense or other similar robberies is asked to call Arlington Police Detective Brian Dunn at 817-459-5729 or Crime Stoppers 817-469-TIPS (8477). All tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

So Now You Know! #6

So Now You Know! #6 – When we say “air medical has been canceled”, that means one of two things. Either the FD/EMS at the scene did not need the helicopter (lack in severity of injuries, no urgency, etc) or the incident involves a fatality. Units will place CareFlite, PHI, or Air Evac on standby when responding to an incident. After assessing the incident, the units will advise to launch air medical or stand down/cancel air medical. Most of the time, air medical is canceled due to lack in severity of injuries and no real sense of urgency. But some of the time, air medical is also canceled due to fatality (s).
Example: 1) Motorcycle accident today in Denton County. CareFlite was on standby but canceled due to lack of severe injuries. 2) Vehicle fire today in far north Fort Worth. CareFlite was canceled due to fatalities.

So now you know when we say “air medical has been canceled” that good either be a good thing or a bad thing, but mostly good!

The Memorial.

Today was a day I will never forget. I witnessed hundreds of firefighters from as far as Calgary, Canada to as close as Waco, Texas come support the fallen heroes of West. It was truly moving. The President said it best “we need more towns like West in America.” It was profound and unreal. The Fire Department Brotherhood is real and alive. Towards the end of the memorial, over 300 bagpipers played Amazing Grace. It brought me to tears along with the rest of the crowd. I will and I hope you will never forget the firemen who give their lives everyday for all of us. Also lets go ahead and remember the families that also selflessly make the sacrifice. Lastly lets remember the fallen heroes that we honored today. Do not forget the men who died to protect the community of West. Do not forget every time you see a fire apparatus to stop pull over and let them do their job. They are working to save lives. No emergency is like any other, but they are always ready. Thank you to all the first responders and firemen. May God bless you all.

So Now You Know! #4

So Now You Know! #4 – When you witness or come upon a vehicle accident, house fire, or other major incident, it is vital to pass along pertinent information to the 9-1-1 operator in the fastest way possible. When you dial 9-1-1 for an incident, remain calm. During emergency situations that may not even involve you, things can get stressful quick, so remain calm. Be sure you know how to locate addresses. If you are on the highway, look for a mile marker, exit # or exit street name to pass along to the 9-1-1 operator. Other key bits of info: for accidents – direction of travel (Northbound, SB, EB, WB), highway name (I30, I20, LBJ or 635, Loop 820), street name (always look for street signs), and any type of place or business nearby; for fires – street address (try to locate a number, ex: 1234) especially street name (once again, look for street signs). Most importantly, try your best to answer the 9-1-1 operator’s questions ie: is anyone hurt in the accident? trapped? Anyone inside the house that is on fire? Questions like that. Remember to remain calm and follow the dispatcher’s orders. So now you know what to do if you witness or come up on an emergency! A1

So Now You Know! #3

So Now You Know! #3 – You may see us refer to “trauma centers” a lot in our posts. Trauma centers are specially equipped hospital facilities to serve patients with traumatic injuries. Patients involved in motor vehicle accidents, shootings, and other incidents involving traumatic injuries will be transported to a trauma center for medical assistance. Trauma centers have a designation based on the level of care they are able to provide. We are forunate enough to have 4 Level 1 trauma centers here in the Metroplex: JPS Fort Worth, Baylor Dallas, Parkland Hospital in Dallas, and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for pediatric patients. There are a number of other Level 2 and 3 trauma centers located across north Texas, but those 4 are the highest clinical care trauma centers within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Most of the victims in the Boston Marathon bombing and the West explosion were taken to trauma centers. Some of the nurses and doctors at these DFW trauma surgeons follow our page for information on incoming patients, how cool is that! Shout-out to all the nurses, doctors, surgeons, and personnel who work at these trauma centers and all hospitals across DFW. You are greatly appreciated! So now you know what we mean when we say Trauma Centers! A1
