Rollover Accident w/ Entrapment (Frisco) FFD Battalion 1, Engine 2, Plano FD Engine 13 on scene of a rollover accident EB 121 between Parkwood and Preston. 1 vehicle on its top. Frisco Medic 4 came up on the accident scene. 1 patient trapped. Extrication in progress by Frisco FD.


Extrication Accident (Wise Co)

Extrication Accident (Wise Co) Around 5:45am this morning, Boyd and Rhome FDs along with Wise County EMS worked a major head-on collision on 114 just east of Boyd. A few off-duty DFW area firefighters on the scene began extrication with Wise County EMS’s tools. The patient was extricated and transported code 3 (lights/siren) to JPS.

DFW Weather Info for 10/30/13

Take your umbrella to work tomorrow! Heavy rain is expected throughout the day across DFW. Estimates from the NWS indicate the immediate DFW Metroplex will see 1-2+ inches of rain. We have an “occasional” chance of rain from 7am to Midnight tomorrow. A Flash Flood Watch has already been issued for the counties of Hunt/Rockwall/Kaufman and points east. Afternoon rush hour will likely be impacted tomorrow – take your time, remove all distractions at the wheel, and travel safe!

Investigation (Collin Co, Prosper) Ongoing investigation in the Rhea Mills neighborhood off Custer Rd. in Prosper. Plano Bomb Squad is on scene, reported suspicious device. Custer Rd. is shut down between Frontier Parkway and Prosper Trail. A1

UPDATE – Device has been secured, all units are clear, road has been reopened.


House Fire (Haltom City)

House Fire (Haltom City) Quint 471 is on scene with heavy smoke and fire showing from a 1 story home in the 3500 blk of Paramount St. Quint 471 pulling a big booster, interior attack. Also on the ticket E472, B47, Q291, M291, B29, E222, E223, B22.


Impalement (Grandview)

Impalement (Johnson Co, Grandview) CareFlite air is about to land at a gas well site near CR 206 and CR 105A on a traumatic Impalement injury to gas well worker. Grandview, Venus, ESD 90, and Alvarado FDs are on scene and have completed an hour long extrication. CareFlite ground medic 705 also on scene. A1


Shooting (Arlington)

Shooting (Arlington) Arlington PD is working a shooting incident in the 1100 blk of Silverwood Drive. Avoid the area. MTF. A1

UPDATE – Statement from Lt. Cook with Arlington PD: “We responded around 6am to multiple reports of shots being fired. When officers arrived on scene, they did locate a suspect; however, he did refuse to surrender. He did fire upon officers. At this point, we believe we do have the apartment surrounded. We have assistance from the Grand Prairie Police Department. Their SWAT team is on scene assisting us. And at this point, we will continue to try to negotiate a peaceful surrender with the suspect. We have 1 confirmed victim, the condition of that victim is unknown at this time.”

UPDATE – Arlington Shooting *UPDATE – APD: Suspect is now in custody after surrendering to law enforcement.

They serve a community within the property that can expand to over 200,000 people overnight. The center of the patch is known as the “Turtle Shell” and is the logo for Speedway Motorsports Inc. It is shared by all the tracks operated by SMI.  . Fatality Accident (Irving)

Fatality Accident (Irving) Earlier this morning, Irving Fire/EMS and IPD worked a major accident on Irving Blvd. between Story Rd. and Belt Line Rd. 1 vehicle wrapped completely around a tree. Irving EMS transported to Parkland, but patient was pronounced at the hospital. (We removed picture of the scene due to knowledge of fatality – thank you for understanding). A1

High water (Ft Worth) Engine 27 is requesting PD to close Trinity Blvd behind Bell Helicopter as there are several vehicles stalled in high water at this time. Engine 27 checking for occupants of the vehicles. PD needing to close Trinity Blvd between Precinct Line Road and Bell Spur. A2


Major Accident (Arlington)

Major Accident (Arlington) Engine 9 has requested PHI Med 8 to the scene of a major accident on the ramp to EB I20 from SB 360. Engine 12, Engine 6, Medic 11, and APD all assigned.

UPDATE – APD requested to shut down EB I20. PHI Med 8 will be landing on the highway. Accident is SB 360 to go EB I20.

Haslet Fire Department Haunted Hayride

The Haslet Fire Department will be hosting a Haunted Hayride this Saturday, October 26th from 7PM TO 10:00 PM at the Haslet Fire Station located at 1701 FM Highway 156 in Haslet, Texas. The admission cost is $5.00 Per Person or $20.00 for the family. There will also be food for purchase. This benefits the Haslet Fire Department Support Group. Investigation (Richland Hills)

Investigation (Richland Hills) Battalion 29 along with Richland Hills PD have requested the Bomb Squad to the Trinity Railway Express Richland Hills Station located at 7225 Burns Street. NRH Squad 22 is responding at this time. Unknown circumstances but will provide additional information when available. DMA Evacuation Drill

The Dallas Museum of Arts (1717 N. Harwood St.) in downtown Dallas will be conducting a full building evacuation tomorrow – October 22, at 10:00 AM.  This exercise will involve DPD, DFD, and the Downtown Safety Patrol. You can expect to see Responders and vehicles, as well as a large gathering outside of the DMA building. This is a coordinated and planned evacuation exercise.

1 Alarm Fire (Ft Worth) Engine 12, Quint 12 on scene in the 2000 block of Prairie Avenue with a single story wood frame residence with heavy fire showing. Engine 12 pulling a big booster, Engine 15 dropping a supply line. MedStar requested for one patient with arm burns. Oncor also requested for power lines down at the location. A2

Accident w/Extrication (Ft Worth) Engine 38, Quint 38, Rescue 38, MedStar 30 and FWPD are working a major accident with one patient trapped inside a vehicle on east Bound Highway 170 at Independence Parkway. FD advising of two patients at the scene, one with serious injuries. Extrication has started. FD has a big booster line on the ground. A2

Station #1 is the oldest station in Waxahachie built in 1963. The station used to be conjoined with the Waxahachie police department. Since then it has been converted to fire admin, but the original jail cells still remain. The Jailhouse’s specialties include incidents off the road to small containable Haz-mats. Incident Round up

Most of us here at DFW Scanner were busy yesterday and missed a few incidents. Here’s a little round-up just in case you are interested:
In Fort Worth, 1 person died in a train vs. vehicle accident in the 12600 blk of Calloway Cemetery Rd, according to MedStar.
In Arlington, PHI Med 8 was launched to a reported motorcycle accident on I20 near Collins. Med 8 airlifted to JPS.
In Dallas, there was a major accident with entrapment on I35E near 635. Multiple ambulances were assigned along with an EMS Supervisor. A1

Runaway Horse (Ft Worth) Engine 17 while responding to a call located a runaway horse on north bound Interstate 35 between Felix and Seminary Drive. FD reported the horse to be running in the middle of the freeway. PD is now on scene and in pursuit of the horse. A2

Major Accident w/ Entrapment (Frisco) Engine 602, Medic 602, Battalion 601 and Special Ops are working an extrication accident at Coit Rd and 121. Extrication complete. 1 critical patient being transported to Medical Center Plano. A1


Kemp Fire Department event

The Kemp Fire Department is hosting a benefit for one of their firefighters and his family; his wife has breast cancer. The benefit is today, October 19th, at the Kemp fire station from 4pm to 8pm. A silent auction and donations for a plate of fish everything goes to help the family. The address is 1307 South Elm St Kemp Texas 75143.


Sports Injury (Collin Co)

Sports Injury (Collin Co, Nevada) A football player was airlifted from the football game this evening at Community High School in Collin County. PHI Med 2 landed in the school parking lot and airlifted 1 patient to Medical Center Plano. The player’s condition is not known. A1


Burn Patient (Ft Worth)

Burn Patient (Ft Worth) FWFD was dispatched to a reported apartment fire at the Fountain Apartments located in the 5000 block of Hildring Drive East. Upon investigating the source of the smoke from an upstairs apartment they discovered a patient with burns. MedStar 57 and FD has requested Careflite to the scene. ETA is approx 7-8 minutes. A2

Careflite Launch (Southlake) Engine 401, Medic 401, Battalion 40 are on scene at Dragon Stadium located at 1085 S Kimball Avenue requesting Careflite to the scene for an unknown type medical call. LZ for Careflite will be by the Bus barn. ETA for Careflite is 6-7 minutes. A2

Apartment Fire (Arlington)

Apartment Fire (Arlington) Overnight around 3:00am, AFD Engine and Squad 2 were first on scene with heavy fire showing from an apartment unit at a complex in the 3000 blk of E. Park Row Drive. Units were able to contain the fire to the original apartment unit. Great job AFD!
